Benelli question?
I got a Benelli Montefeltro a couple of years ago and love the gun. All I use it for is quail hunting. The first time out I was using the IC choke and the guy I was with told me I needed to change it because I was blowing limbs off the tree way up in front of us. So I changed it to the skeet choke and I don't see much difference in the pattern. My question is, is there a choke that I can buy that will open up my pattern a little? I've shot wood and water to see the pattern and it still seems real tight to me even at 40 yds. Another question I have is, can you get different shims? I've got "D" shims in and I'm still shooting over the birds. For me, it doesn't seem to break enough from the stock to gun. Thanks in advance for all the input. |
RE: Benelli question?
The most open choke available is cylinder. It's 0 choke, and slightly more open than skeet #1. If you still want larger patterns, you'll have to go to "spreader" shotshells. http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpag...eitemid=219876

RE: Benelli question?
Thanks Stalkingbear. Those shell are a little pricey:(. I don't know if I need to hit better that much or not. Thanks for the info. I didn't even know they made spreader shells. I will check into the cylinder choke tube, thanks alot...

RE: Benelli question?
It could be perhaps you're using the wrong choke tube by mistake too. That mistake is EASY to do as I've done it myself-many times.

RE: Benelli question?
20 ga. I was using 7/8 oz. 7 1/2. When I was blowing tree limbs off I had improved modified and I switched to improved cylinder and it didn't make much difference so I put the skeet choke in.
