Ammo... What did I miss!!!!???

I've been out of the shooting loop for about a good year and a halfbut I'm making a renewedeffortto get back into it.

Ammo and reloading supplies have skyrocketed, if you can even find them. A cruise thru Midway's website and they pretty much have no brass in stock for any popular handgun calibers, and bulet selection is almost as bad.

What did I miss? I heard a little bit of talk about people buying guns with a liberal pres headed to office. But what happened to availability?

Looks like the left-wingers are making a big effort now to mess up our ammo & component supplies. They couldn't get our guns, so now it's ammo they're targeting......

ammo is nearly extinct.

our walmart cant get it in. even cheaper than dirt (which is a misleading name) is out of stock and is haveing a hard time stocking stuff.

I have a short supply, not nearly enough tho.

Since when is "how much one needs" ANYBODY's business?

RE: Ammo... What did I miss!!!!???

just thinking about ammo prices make me sickkkkkk[:'(] thats why i took up bow hunting....a dozen arrows will last me a good 2-3 years if im careful! lol

metal prices in general kinda skyrocketed a while back.....

now im sure alot of it has to do with the gov and new president coming and people panicking and buying ammo like no tomorrow...which doesnt help prices or supply when materials are somewhat hard to come by...

plus the war....they are using alot of brass and lead and copper.....

pretty much doubled from what it used to be....the 4-5$ box of shotgun shells are now 8-10$....prettty ugly....

not sure if theres a true root to the problem....seems like a combination of everything and probably more....kinda like gas prices lol.............

I guess the gun store commandos are stocking up for the big one. At least I'll know where to get it if it all falls down.....

......Absolutely correct!!! Unfortunately, I'm concerned the new "Regime" may try to make it their business.
We need to get off our butts and write our U.S. and State legislators and express our feelings. We just can't let the minority, and they're the ones who take the time to write the letters and organize movements to go unchallenged anymore. It's time to make your voice heard and speak up. If you don't you will most surely be at their mercy. Last time I looked, this was still a Democracy and the people's voice mattered. Start hollering!!!!!

Ammo & component prices should be dropping. Metal prices are way down, and so is gasoline (but NOT DIESEL!!)

Gun store commandos? I shoot sporting clays and uspsa pistol matches regularly. I use .223 and .308 in three gun matches. It's not uncommon for me to burn 1000 rounds a month. More when my son and stepson shoot with me. I reload for 12 gauge, 20 gauge and .45 acp. I've also got three different rifles that I use for deer and hog hunting, and my son has one, and I like to keep them all properly sighted in, and have enough ammo left over for use during deer season. I stock up whenever the stuff I need is on sale. So tell me, how much ammo do you think I should be allowed to have on hand? Judging by your comments, it appears you think we should all be perfectly content to have one bullet for each weapon, if that.

At least I'll know where to get it if it all falls down.....
Based on your comments, I doubt anyone will be willing to share.

RE: Ammo... What did I miss!!!!???

Call me paranoid ,but this stuff is scary. I just dropped 330$ for 700 rnds of decent 223 ball ammo and I consider myself lucky to find it. None of the major catalog companies have any at all. Same w/ reloading components too, just about everything is drying up, fast! Even powder.

I figure I can feed my 7-08 for the next 10 years, if I dont waste much, but what about after that? I wonder if well be able to buy ammo at all in the future [:@]

RE: Ammo... What did I miss!!!!???

dang dearandbear....i didnt realize 223 ammo was so high! not long ago i could find cases of hardball for under 100 bucks!!! [:'(] [:@]

223 hardball makes a little sense due to the war....

too danged expensive to do much shooting these days i know that much....dad and i used to shoot pistols atleast once a week....usually took some of the rifles atleast once a month..now, its so bad if we dont need to shoot, we dont...except on a blue moon...still shoot the pistols to stay in tune but not near like we used to...

So if the "big day" that the those with an itchy trigger finger are waiting for comes, you think someone is going to ask?

Kinda like the scmuck from the "Citizens Defense League" that decided to berate those waiting in line a the gun show this last weekend. "quit waiting for someone to do it for you, YOU need to join us"

Sure, and now you know why I.D.P.A is pathetic. As for IPSC, try 500 rounds a week.....

thanks obama , biden, schumer, hillary, pelosi.

It might be tough to get our guns, but they seem to be doing a fair job of making it too costly to feed 'em.

sad state of affairs. and it's going to get worse.

The price of ammo went up because commodities went up, the price of certain guns went up because of fear and speculation.

This statement is true. However ,the clear anti gun ,voting records of the folks, who now hold so much political power, has everyone buying up everything the can , including myself. Can anyone blame us?

Everyone is worryed about OBAMA, and my local mom and pop reloading shop who is also the area powder distributer seems to think it will get better by march.

RE: Ammo... What did I miss!!!!???

i agree that the price went up because materials cost went up. i also think a contributing factor was the panic that went along with a president-elect that favors a 500 % tax on firearms and ammunition.

RE: Ammo... What did I miss!!!!???

http://ammunitionaccountability.org/Legislation.htm

Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns?
Well, it seems that his minions and allies in the anti-gun world
have no problem with taking your ammo!

The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and
Indiana) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the
manufacture, a data base of all ammunition sales. So they will
know how much you buy and what calibers. Nobody can sell any
ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.

Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July
1, 2011. (Including hand-loaded ammo.) They will also charge a
.05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go
up at least $2.50 or more! If they can deprive you of ammo they
do not need to take your gun!

Please give this the widest distribution possible and contact
your Reps!
