Tactical scope for 25-06??

I thought I asked this before but could not find in search . . .
Sooooooooooooo,
Anyone know of a tactical scope (one with marked turret(s) specifically for the 25-06?
There are no shortage of scopes for .243, .270, 30-06, in a variety of bullet weights.

Maybe I'll just go with one withBDC?!

Hey, if I draw lines and marks on a Buchnell banner, does that make it tactical? :(

You ****s are a lot of help!

Must make you all warm and fuzzy inside.

If you don't know, or can't help, the last thing I would expect from fellow gun/hunting enthusiests is ridicule.
We get enough of that from the general public!

RE: Tactical scope for 25-06??

i really dont understand how a scopes turrets can be made for a particular caliber...every bullet will shoot differently from every gun...sure they might get close...but you'll still have to do your range work and figure out if its true, and at what distances it is true....

if you want to seriously shoot long range, id recommend a GOOD scope with target knobs that tracks true...then learn to use a drop chart and "click" in the distance with the target knobs...still requires range work to verify....but once you custom make your own chart, example being 3 clicks up at 250yds, 5 clicks up at 300yds etc, you can range the target, click from your zero, hold dead on and fire...

maybe im missing something with the turrets for the caliber...i dont know...same goes with mil-dots and the various mil-dot variations like BDC...still gotta do the range work and see where those hash marks are true for that particular rifle...

at Cabelas web site. This scope has interchangeable turrets for various calibers, and bullet weights.
No one makes one for a 25-06.

You really don't need one specifically for a 25-06. If you are shooting far enough to need to click up your scope, you should be doing your practice time to know how far your bullet is dropping at various ranges. With any standard tactical scope, you can then dial up the appropriate MOA for the distance. With a few range sessions with the ammo you plan on using it's quite simple. I keep a drop chart (with wind drifts) either taped to my stock or tucked in the shell holder on my stock. I have the common ranges memorized, but for an odd distance shot it only takes 3-4 seconds to determine the appropriate MOA to dial in.

Ask this question to RidgeRunner. He can put you in the right direction P.D.Q. If anybody knows how to hook you up it's him.

You would be better off looking at a multiline or multi dot reticle and looking at the distance between the lines on the highest magnification. Use that combined with your loads drop chart to determine what each line is in yardage terms.

Does that make sense? No matter how much a scope ad tells you it is load specific, it is not. Even if you buy a 308 reticle scope, it really means it was designed based on a theoretical 308 load, with a thoretical BC.

It may have a 300, 400 and 500 yard line, but even if you are shooting a 308, the lines will really equal impact at different yardages, say 301, 416, and 548. . .or something like that. Maybe using that scope on a 25'06 gives 323, 472, 598, etc. Also, at different magnification levels, this will change. So, maybe it is designed for a 308 at 14x, but it better matches 25'06 at 12x.

PS, you got the grief because you used the word tactical, which is becoming the most over used and misunderstood word in the human language. If you mean deer hunting, say it. If you mean people hunting, say it.

This is exactly why he would NOT be better served by a BDC reticle, the lines will not match up well. What good is a BDC scope where the lines match up for 100, 210, and 334 yards??

Figure your drop in MOA. Buy a standard tactical scope. Laminate the drop chart in packing tape and tape it to your stock done.

BTW, show me where tactical = killing people. That's an ignorant and purposefully inflammatory comment. Jeeps are tactical by definition too.

I did not say that, or mean to cause a flame. I just meant to clarify. If we are talking about medium range hunting(my assumption), that is much clearer to me. Would you agree?

Just for clarity. . .Tactical definition How does this help ask the question?

Back to lined scopes. Some people prefer lines. I prefer drop/windage chart and knobs. I still see the use of the dots on my mildot scope. Still, I prefer turning the knobs. I do the charts in MOA and mils, in case the dots give me a tactical advantage.
