Custom Shop Value?? vs do it yourself??

What is the true value of the custom shop rifles from Remington?

I was considering the Remington Alaskan Wilderness Rifle in 300 RUM for my new long ranger. Can' t find one to save my life... but when looking at it I' m looking at the value for the money and wondering what you really get? $550 vs $1500?

The AWR is a 6.7 lb composite stock model with a 26" stainless barrel / teflon coated to kill the color but is it all that different from a functional BDL?

There is a blued 26" bdl at the shop right now... ok.. not stainless but think the SS model will cost roughly $650 if I wanted to wait. The BDL weighs roughly 7.5lbs.
So if I bought the BDL as an example and " settled" for the blued gun and put a decent stock .. McMillan/HS PRecision or another stock on it.. what am I missing out on????

I' m thinking maybe I pick up the BDL and shoot!! Change the stock out, pick a stock.. a Remington, HS, McMillan, Hogue, Ramline..etc..
(have a McMillan on one rifle and like it but ouch.. $$$) Want to pick the best for the $ so can use your help there. Assume the AWR comes with extra bedding care but maybe not??

Have the trigger replaced or worked on to lighten and tighten.. (What kind of trigger would be best or is the remington one salvagable?)

Worse case scenerio.. I could have the whole thing done in a nice matte finish to take the shine off ,, jewelled bolt and all and come pretty close to the look if that was all that important to me.... and I might but am more concerned with the overall package and moa.

Put more money in the scope.. etc..

What am I not getting other than the teflon coating of the AWR, the extra pound of weight? They do some lapping and fitting but hear it' s nothing special or is it??What else matters besides MOA? Oh and the money?

I would buy the BDL, install a synthetic camo stock, do a teflon or camo job on the barrel and put the saved money in a high quality scope. The BDL trigger is adjustable, there is no need to replace it.
