I looked very nice rifles love the super grade very pretty who is FNH
They make high grade military weapons. The factory where the Model 70 is being made is an ISO 9001 shop. They also have hammer forged barrels instead of button rifling. Fully floated and pillar bedded.

Just my .02, I don't think there is a better factory made rifle right now. Not to mention it's a model 70 action three position safety and no magazine to lose. What else can you ask for.

I agree first time I saw the A bolt white gold Medallion I loved it,however is just a pic not in real.Friend has a A bolt stainless stalker And it feels great.Slickest working bolt have ever felt. Now let me add i just looked and like the Winchester mod 70 Super grade is very nice.Just like the stainless barred on the white gold
Wait till you cycle the bolt on the M70. Very very smooth. I got to cycle one (.270 Win) at Cabelas about 3 months ago, it was very crisp. I dry fired it twice and it was a crisp trigger with no creep. Basically just like my Timney triggers. I would have lowered the poundage though because it was set to about 4lbs. I'd set it down to 3lbs.

Stainless is usually heavier than blued, If you don't care about the weight stainless is nice. I have a Savage mod. 116 weather warrior in 7mm. mag that I put a Boyd's laminate stock on the Rifle is heavy, 11.4 lbs.
Just something to consider. Good Luck

I am really impressed by the looks of the Winchester mod 70 Extreme Weather SS.I had just thought Winchester went out of business.I like it cause its made in USA and right now we need to look at that.
I wanted a 25-06 i see it just comes in 270 win and 270 wsm might go 30-06 route.I dlove to hear feedback
from anyone who has a mod 70

Stainless is usually heavier than blued,
Compare the weights of the 700sps and 700 sps stainless.

http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/centerfire_rifles/model_700/

Or the a-bolt composite stalker and a-bolt stainless stalker.

http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/family.asp?webflag_=001B&catalog_=B

Or the Tikka t-3 lite and t-3 lite stainless

http://www.tikka.fi/

Guess what, the stainless versions weigh the same as the blued versions.

RE: best stainless gun

would the 23 inch barrel hurt the performance of the 270WSM

I guess I wasn't comparing the exact guns, mod, cal. etc. for weight comparison. My Savage mod. 116, flutedstainless 7mm, mag with laminate stock is 11.4 lbs. and my Savage mod. 111, .270 blued, synthetic weighs 7.8 lbs. Even with the original synthetic stock on my 7mm, mag is heavier by 2 lbs. both are scoped the same. I stand corrected..LOL

Actually stainless steel is almost exactly the same weight as carbon steel. Stainless steel is made when they add a very slight amount more chromium to the mix in the blast furnace. This amount is usually less than 1.5% (usually 1/2 that) of the total weight of the steel. You're probably mistakenly referring to the barrel contours being different on certain models.
