SHOOTING BENCH PLANS
Does anybody have plans for a portable shooting bench? Or know where I can get asome? Am I better off just purchasing one from a sportshop?
I was looking at the one RCBS makes and like all the features, but $350+ Not sure I want to spend that kind of money. Whats your take? Thanks |
RE: SHOOTING BENCH PLANS
I found this one on-line some time ago. It looks easy to build with inexpensive parts.

I bought a folding table at Walmart for $39 dollars and I love it.

Look at this 1 and see if you like it, pretty sturdy and stable, while being easy to build. http://www.larrywillis.com/shootingbench.html

I've never had luck with anything that folds being stable enough-seems they all are somewhat wobbly by design of the moving parts. Nothing is more frustrating to me than a wobbly shooting bench. You're sacrificing stability for convience.

I use a 6' wooden folding table. When I put a couple of 50 lb sand bags on it the wobble goes away.

RE: SHOOTING BENCH PLANS
Look at the portables on Cabelas.com. I bought one for $100 and it's GREAT. It's as stable as you can expect a portable to be, folds quickly, and straps together for easy transport. I've shot out to 850 yards with it and didn't notice any wobble after minimal effort to set it solidly.

I made my own. It's kind of similar to the Stucky one advertised in the trade pubs. I don't weld so I had that part done at a local welding shop. The finished product is dead nutz sturdy.
