Rem model 798 mauser action
Does anyone have anything to say about these? I always liked the old mauser actions I have used in the past... is the new ones any count? any advice before i go out buying one?

RE: Rem model 798 mauser action
I believe those actions are made in Yugoslavia, or what was Yugoslavia. They are similar, if not identical, to the Mark X Mausers once imported here. Don't know who makes the barrels & stocks, or even where they are putting them together, here or abroad somewhere.
These should be decent guns. The one that interests me is the 799, the short-action version in .223 and 7.62X39mm..... |
RE: Rem model 798 mauser action
The barreled actions Remington is using on for the 798 have been around a long time. They used to be the Interarms Mark X & then the Charles Daly Mauser. The 798 is a decent gun for the prices I have seen in my area. They usually smooth up after being used for awhile. I haven't owned a 798 but I did own an Interarms Mark X. Once I bedded the rife properly and cleaned up the trigger it was an accurate rifle that was dependable.

RE: Rem model 798 mauser action
Its a rifle that used to be imported by Charles Daly but now Remington has the rights to. Remington simply increased the price by about 40% in order to put their name on it. Buy a CZ, its a much better made mauser 98 style rifle for a comparable price.
