Anyone ever put a bipod on a Rem 770?

My nephiew just got his first deer rifle, a Remington model 770 in .270. My brother figured this would be a fair first rifle for him since he only gets maybe 5 days a year to hunt with it.

This thing is, it'samazingly light. Due to that, it kicks harder than my .300 win mag. I told him that adding a bipod to it would weigh it down a little more and then he'd have a more stable platform to shoot from (we only hunt from the ground since our land is basically a wide open field and he doesn't have a safety harness to use with a tree stand). But the sling studs are moulded into the stock and doesn't look like a standard bipod would mount on it. I could eventually get one on there, but I was just wondering how easy it would be.

I wish my bro would have asked me which rifle to get his kid, I would have warned him against getting the 770, but he didn't and that's what he got. It's not a bad rifle, just fairly underwhelming for the price. Aside from the bipod and adding a Simms recoil pad, are there any other options for reducing the felt recoil of this rifle?

You can add a mixture of epoxy and lead shot to the butt stock when you change recoil pads.

I recently got the 770 in 30.06.. (even tho I knew the views of many on the model.. but in Ohio we cant use rifles.. and I would only be using it on rare occasions..) and I agree with the recoil...it surprised the heck out of me and i nearly scoped myself lmao so much so.. i would be afraid of putting a bi-pod on the thing in fear the synthetic stock would be damaged... I really dislike the lack of a proper swivel.... I do like Stubble Jumpers idea and might try it myself. as to the brake. I wouldn't want to spend much money on a 770.. as low cost due tothe fact i wont be using the gun much is why I bought it.
Both are great ideas tho.. good luck
