chinese made .22 cal "takedown" rifle.

I've got a friend who wants to get rid of this little semi auto. It is a knockoff of the Browning .22 takedown rifle. It is tube fed and breaks in half for easy storeage or packing. Does anyone have this gun and what do you think. Is the chinese version good, bad or otherwise for quality? It looks identicle to the Browning model.

I've shot a couple of them... They were rough, jammed some, but shot ok, and sure weren't a Browning...

DM...did the gun jam trying to chamber the first round? Seems if I was holding it upside down the .22 wouldnt feed right. Maybe it has to be chambered in the natural "down" facing direction???

They sometimes jammed in use, and i made no attempt to correct them as they weren't mine...

I bought a chinese made 22 mag in bolt action, didn't take long to trade it for a Savage. In mop it was a piece of junk, should have know better!

The Norinco chinese made copies of the Browning are very spotty in quality-you might get a decent 1, and you may not. Since you already have it, disassemble it and polish any rough burrs or toolmarks it has inside (especially bolt/reciever/etc) and it MAY perform better. I've never seen them perform close to the real thing however, as quality does matter. The only chinese made .22 rifles I've personally seen that actually shot good (to my suprize) were the JW15 bolt action rifles.

stalkingbear, yes it is a norinco and it seems like a pretty good shooter. Sounds like good advice to take it apart. Thanks.

i have one that my dad gave me and it started out rough and jammed quiet a bit. after i put a couple thousand rounds through it, it started to smooth out. now she runs good. and hits pretty well too.
