Rem. 7600 or 760?

Where I hunt we have the perfect ground to still hunt/track/stalk deer. I really want a pump action rifle and am considering a Remington. Now, is the older 760 better than the new 7600? What do yall think? Thanks for all your great help.

I dont know if one is better than the other but I personally am a big fan of carrying older guns, it seems as the steel is of higher quality as is the wood and there is that nostalgia factor to me too....

RE: Rem. 7600 or 760?

I have always wanted a 760 or a 7600 and went to a gun show hell bent on buying one. I picked it up and just lost interest completely and got a BLR as my stalk gun. The 7600 uses pieces from the 20 gauge 870 and it is clanky as all get out and the forend has about 1/2" of twisting play in it and I can't stand a squeeky sling swivel let alone a clanky gun.

So take that for what it's worth. I do intend on getting one for my son when he is of age and maybe I'll borrow it a day or two, lol.[8D]

I have a 7600 in 270 and my dad has a 760 in 30-06. Other than the fact that his is wood versus my synthetic, having hunted with both, I like both of them and don't see much difference between the two actually.

Gunbroker has some very sweet limited edition maple 7600's for sale, you should check them out.

I still want one, clank and all, because you just can't beat a good pump but I'm kind of calibered out at the moment. [&:]

RE: Rem. 7600 or 760?

My favorite deer gun is a 760 in .270. It's been a work horse for the past 25 years.

I traded an air cooled Sears 5hp outboard for that gun. The motor was a piece of trash and the gun was like new. One of the better trades I've made in my life.

It will shoot 2" groups all day off bags. Not a "tack-driver" but more than adequate for hunting.

I also have a 7600 in 30-06. There's no big difference, but I do like the feel of the forearm better on the 760 and it seems to be a little tighter.
