I owned two .257 weatherbys, three .25-06s and three .257 Roberts.

The only one of the bunch that stil gets used is a M-70 FWT in .257 Roberts....

take it from there............

The beauty of the 7-08 or 7x57 is they are well proven calibers and kick less than others. For folks that are sensitive to recoil there's no better choice.

It's expensive as all get out to shoot, but mine Vanguard Sporter is accurate as hell, reliable, and most importantly gives me 100% confidence that I will hit what I am aiming at and that what I aimed at will fall down.

I took 2 ~160-170 pound bucks this year with mine. I used a 100 grain Barnes Triple X.

The 7 point was 40 yards front quartering and died instantly.

The 10 point was 40 yards broadside, it walked about 25 yards and keeled over although I cranked a second one into it even though I didn't need too (adrenaline).

I'll continue to use it as my stand gun and my 300WSM Browning BLR as my stalk gun.
