CVA Wolf Or CVA Buckhorn
 

Narrowed it down to 2 the wolf or the buckhorn cant decide probably gonna get it from cabellas they have some good deals going on right now. They both look like good guns so it's really a toss up. Last if anyone has one of these guns how is the kick compared to a 12 gauge just wondering how much difference it is. Thanks

I'd go with the Wolf. It's a break action vs. a side bolt on the buckhorn.
I shoot my Wolf with 100 grains of powder and 295 grain powerebelts and doesnt kick much more than a .22 rifle!

I have a wolf in zinc coating. I have had 2 problems.
1. Butt loose on receiver (had to tighten a Allen with long extension and universal with Allen socket)
2. The scope mounts had zinc coating In the threads major pain in the assto get the tinyscope bolts threaded.

Other than that It shoots great and wasn't that expensive.

i have a buckhorn magnum nd with 100 grains of pyrodex and a 295 grain power belt and the recoil is very mild also they do very well on white tail. never shot the wolf so this is my two cents hope it helps

I had the Buckhorn and UPGRADED to the Wolf, it's lighter, a break action and in my opinion a better design. I shoot the 250 gr SST's pushed by 130 gr of pyrodex pellets with a ww209 primer. Love mine, it is a light quick handling muzzleloader.

i have a wolf, there real good guns, imo there the best value out there in a muzzleloader right now

Both are good rifles, but I'd go with the Wolf- it's a more modern design, handles nicer and is easier to clean. A lot of guys on the muzzleloading forum have them and it's almost all positive reviews. Recoil depends on your load (powder charge, bullet weight) but in general it's going to have a lot less recoil than a 12 gauge shooting slugs.
