.260 Remington

[8D]I thinking about buying a model 700 mountain rifle in .260 Remington. Does anyone have any experience with accuracy in this model & caliber? Thanks.

i have exactly the same gun and caliber. 260 remington in a mountain rifle. i have a leupold 3-9 vx-ii scope on it. this is IMHO as good as it gets for a deer hunting set up. my rifle shoots 1/2 groups at 100m with 140gr cor lokts.

It doesn' t get any better than that. Unless, of course, you buy a Winchester or a Ruger. ;)

All joking aside, the .260 Rem is a nearly perfect deer cartridge and the Mountain Rifle is a nice-carrying rig. You should never need anything else to hunt deer (or most other game, for that matter) with for the rest of your life.

I also own a Rem 700 mountain rifle in .260 with a Bushnell 4200 on top. Like everyone else has said, it may be about the perfect deer gun. While I' ve only used mine on whitetails, I' ve heard of several people using .260s to take big elk bulls. So it is a very versatile rifle. No complaints from this owner. I usually get .5-.75 inch groups with the 140 core lokts. You won' t be disappointed!
