small problem w/ gun handle discoloring...
 

I feel like a dumbass. I was cleaning my brand new ruger p95 w/ brake cleaner, but i got some overspray onto the stock, which is made of polymer, so now that part of my stock is white. A local gunshop told me to use some silicone on a cotton cloth and rub it.... but that just seems to be doing the same thing as the brake cleaner did.... what else can i do? I would hate to have to send in the stock and get a brand new one, i dunno how much that costs, but probly too much :(

thats what everyone told me to use, including the gun shop, so thats what i used.

I did get it out though, i used some silicone on a cotton cloth and it wiped right off... what a relief.

Glad you got it. The silicone or some RemOil will get the color back. I don' t use the brake cleaner but the Gun Scrubber and it can be as bad. Always have to touch up a spot on the Glock.

Gun scubber work pretty good. Brake cleaner works a little better, is cheaper, but has to be used carefully. Carb cleaner really cuts the crud and grime out, but should never be allowed to come in contact with plastic based synthetic materials, like grips, stocks, etc., as it will melt them, and may be harmful to some finishes on wood grips and stocks as well.

Anyway, what has happened to the grips on your P95, is that the brake cleaner has cut and removed all the oils from the surface of your grips. Apply several coats of CLP, break-free, Rem-oil, etc., over the next few days and they should returned back to their original color.
