Best LOOKING gun?

Post your (for the lack of a better man friendly term) "prettiest" gun. Ive been doing some thinking, and recently thinking about going with a new Encore barrel, and got to thinking....I dont have a good looking gun. Most of my guns have synthetic stocks and are work horses.

I personally like the looks of the Remington CDL or BDL (altho not crazy about the sites).

I know other gun makers also make a similar type gun, nice wood with the darker part at the forend, or atleast a different wood at the forend.

What are some other beauties....that go for up to say $1000 or so?

Most of my rifle are also synthetic stock working type guns but I still think the best looking rifle made in the last 50 years is the Winchester Model 70 Featherweight, made from about 1989 - 2005.

My vote for the best looking current production rifle is a Rem 700 CDL.

Apparently someone has a fairly large budget when it comes to their hunting toys, hopefully I'll have one like that someday ;) Here is a pic of a CZ-550 (like I have). Mine is topped with a Leupold Vari-X II however.

Altho I am liking that 700 CDL more and more.....I just love having the endless customization opportunities that Ill never actually go through with on a 700 lol

Cooper and Dakota take the bag easily in my opinion with Kimber a close 3rd. Browning White Gold Medallion, Hi-wall and Citori are all superlative in my eye. Ruger No. 1 is way up there, very classic look to me. Though I have to admit, heavily tacti-kooled stuff does catch my eye sometimes, especially bolt guns firing cavernous rounds that can lay a Taliban low at that side of 3/4 mile.

+1. For rifles that most anyone can afford, the CDL is the one in the looks dept. You should go through with that custom work, you won't regret it. Buy the parts a little at a time and then drop it all off to a qualified smith (you being in NC I could help you out with that search if you like, I know a few) you'd be amazed how relatively cheap you can make that happen for.

RE: Best LOOKING gun?

I wish they offered a polished blue in a .243. The only thing I dont like is I already have a .270 as my go to gun right now. Also have firearms in 30cal. Dont have a true NEED for a varmit round, tho I may go try and shoot the occasionalfoxor coyote if the chancewere tocome up....nor a cannon, nor do I want to be redundant and go middle of the road again and get one of the calibers that they offer in the polished blue. Id really like to have a .243. That caliber has always grabbed my attention as far as it's versatility.

I have a 700adl synthetic right now....and I love the trigger on it....it has been taken down to a lower lb pull, but I dont know any better.....it seems crisp.

What other modifications would you make to a 700......just as some things to consider (Im not a tech head when it comes to guns)

Beauty is really in the eye of the beholder............

Not much of a.270 Winor Ruger fan but this one has a incredible piece ofcircasian walunt on it for a factory Ruger. This one is still NIB and is a safe queen until daughter marries the right man.

What a beautiful rifle (the scope is nice too!). Is that a MkII or a Hawkeye? If it's a MkII I would suggest getting either a Timmeny or Spec-tech aftermarket trigger (http://www.spec-tech-industries.com/). The MkII factory trigger suuuuuuucks but the rifle is otherwise a great rifle!

Rifle:
Any well cared for pre 64' Mod70 in a bolt action for "classic" good looks.........the newer Kimbers are very nice too.
For some reason I can never keep my eyes or hands off a Ruger #1 with a good looking hunk of wood as well.

Shotgun:
Hands down a Winchester Mod 21 SxS.........someday I'll find one some old lady is selling in a yard sale. ;):D

Muzzleloader:
a Cabin Creek "Yorktown" flintlock rifle.

Handgun:
My favorites are the Colt Anaconda, and Kimber Pro CDP

I can't believe someone hasn't posted a picture of a TC Hawkin. I don't think they get much prettier than those especially in this price range.
