Older Mini 14

I am trading for a older (at least 10 years old) Mini 14 and it has wood over the barrell, where others I look at have the metal heat covers...the best way I know to describe it. I have yet to come across another one with the wood on it, all have the metal covers. So anyone know any information on this model or why it has the wood and not metal? Hope I have described this good enough for you guys to help me. Thanks

I believe this is what is referred to as the 180 series.
Please pm or email me your price as I would like a Mini.

Them "heat covers" is knowed as "handguards". See,what they do, sort of, is keep you from burning your hands on a hot barrel, if you've been shooting too fast.........
