I traded-up (I think)....

Hey everyone,
Well yesterday, my dad and I traded deer rifles. I had a Ruger M77 MkII in .270 caliber with an aftermarket adjustable trigger while he recently purchased a CZ-550 in 30-.06 caliber.A few weeks ago we were both at the range (he was doing initial sight in on his rifle while I was testing out my new trigger) and I had a chance to shoot his rifle.I immediately fell in love with CZ, the single-set trigger makes it fantastically accurate and being a little heavier rifle (it weights 8 lbs w/o the scope), it actually kicks aless than my ruger. After hunting 2 weekends ago, dad found out he really didn't like the CZ, it was a little unwieldy for still hunting in the brush (it has a 23.8" barrel and a little longer stock than my ruger). So yesterday, we decided to trade rifles and swapped our scopes (he has a 2-7 x33 leupold VX-1 while I have an older3-9x40 leupold Vari-X II). I'm a little sad because I've had my Ruger for 8 years and have taken about a dozen deer with it but I'm pretty confident the trade is a good one. I don't mind a little heavier rifle (I primarly hunt from treestands) and I plan on hunting elk in a few years and IMO the .06 is a better caliber for elk hunting. What does everyone think? Has anyone triedCZ rifles? I absolutelylove the single-set trigger and I knew immediately, afterI fired the first shot, this rifle was something special.

Money wise I'd say you both come out all right. However, I'm a Ruger fan and not really a CZ one. But if you and your Dad are happy, THAT'S what counts! My Dad and I have traded many firearms throughout the years and I'm sure there will be more to come in the future. Heck we have even traded some back and forth, so maybe you will get your trusty Ruger back some day? Good luck to you and your Dad.

I love my CZ. Mine is a 527 American with the fancy stock in 204. The set trigger is great. Mine is also very accurate.

I really like the single set triggers of cz-that's their best feature. To get a single set trigger on other rifles,I have to order/install a canjar trigger from the factory in denver. I'm of the firm opinion that a good single set trigger is TONS better than gimmicks like savage's accutrigger-not saying it's bad, just that canjars and the like is much better.

CZ's are excellent rifles. But so are Rugers. I own both. I believe, since you both ended up with something each of youlikes better, you BOTH traded up!
