Moss. Maverick vs. 500

What is the difference between the Mossberg Maverick and the Model 500? Looking to create another JIC shotgun. I'm inquiring about quality, reliability, etc. Please don't tell me how I need "X" model instead. I have plenty of other shotguns I use. But I have one door left in the house w/o a shotgun behind it. The low price of the Maverick is intriguing.

dont think there is much difference they say anything you can buy for a 500 is interchangable with the maverick. i own a maverick and i have shot severel birds and other small game with no complaints. it shoots slugs well also.i can say that the 500 chokes do work in the maverick also.

There may only one action slide on the Maverick. I'm not sure about this though.

I was wrong, they have twin slides.

Don't quote me on this, but I was told that the Maverick was made of the parts that came off the 500 line that didn't meet quality control.

position of the safety is one difference. on the 500 it's a tang and on the Mav it's a push button like a Rem or Win
