My wife has 2 Ruger #1s, one in 25-06 and one in 30-06, both shoot less than 1 MOA. She has not had any problems with accuracy or getting off a second shoot if needed (not offen needed).

I recently picked up one in 30-06, but have not had a chance to play with it yet.

What is the recoil like on the 7mm? I found one with a VariX-II on it in mint condition for $400. Can' t seem to get it out of my mind.

Portage, I find that, perhaps due to stock design, the recoil of a Number 1 doesn' t seem too severe. I find the 7mm Rem. Mag. recoil to be about the same as a good .30/' 06. The 7X57mm doesn' t seem to recoil hardy at all, and even the .375 H&H is not too bad, although you can tell it ain' t no .243!!
