I know i should resight in this situation but am looking for opinions...

I have been using 150 gr Corelokts for deer hunting for about 3 years in my M70 30.06. I started using this gr cuz i found a great deal on the ammo ($6 a box) a few years ago.

now i want to move up to 165 gr corelokts for this deer season. I won't have time to re-sight with my work schedule as i fly back in the day before opening day.

Will there be a huge difference in my accuracy? i think there could be but just wanted a more expert opinion. I am bring my other guns as well but sometimes i find the use for the 30.06 as my back up gun.

If you need to ask then you need to resight. Odds are that the difference won't be much but it could be. Do it even if its just for your own peace of mind.

I think that at 100 yds, you will be low and to the left of your original aiming point. How far is just a guess but the only way to tell is to go shoot it. Whatever you are shooting at deserves it.

I'm just guessing but I'd keep all shots within 100 yards until have a chance to resight your rifle properly. I would guessitate they'll impact within 3"-5" of where it's currently sighted.

How aboutforcing yourself to use 150grain corelokts just one more time and wait to use the 165grainers when you have had a chance to sight in with them.Just an option to consider as I have seen some guns shoot horribly with differentammo and I prefer knowing where the gun will shoot through actual experience. Dislikethe whole minute of deer/ good enough for metheory and would muchprefer tohunt with proven ammo/peace of mindespecially since it will only set you back about 13 bucks ofr a box on sale.Take care and good luck.

I switched from 180's to 150's and there was a 2 inch difference, Not sure how or why, but there was. I resighted and am back to under and inch at 100.

This answer is base on a 200 yd zero. At 100 yds the 150 gr. will be 1.7 inches low. The 165 grain at 100 yds will be 1.8 inches low. At 300 yds the bullet drop is 7.7 inches for 15ogr and 7.9 for 165gr.

I agree with Nyorange, use the 150 grains because you know how they will perform. Re-zero with 165 grain when you have the time. Besides, those 150's will certainly put the hurt on them bad! Good luck and let us know how you did.

Everyone is right you will have to try it and see. My dads 7600 in 30-06 has about .25"-.5" difference from 150gr to 180gr Core Lokts but my Remington 700 had 5" differences with the same ammo. He switches back and forth all the time without resighting.

I don't know about accuracy, but you had better expect that the 165 will hit in a different place than the 150, because it probably will. If you haven't zeroed it for the 165, by all means take a couple of test shots with the new bullets when the first day's hunt comes to an end. You have toknow where the bullet will hit - a couple of test shots will NOT drive the deer out of the county!

This guy obviously has a crystal ball! He could not have any means of knowing this otherwise, since he has not shot the questioner's rifle!! This is pretty amusing!
