Ive killed hogs with any weapon you can imagine and some most cant stomach ( knife, club, palmetto root, mud puddle to name a few). My point being, hogs aint near as tough as everybody makes em out to be, you gotta shoot practically not ethically, if you hit em behind the ear in the soft part of the neck even if he aint paralyzed youll have a 10 ft wide blood trail. If the jugular doesnt present itself shoot for the spine and break em down.

Thank you for the replys folks....

We have some friends that have used the #2 up through #4 to successfully kill hogs in one shot. Georgia Outdoor News in the past year or so has been full of stories with the same resuts...

We have not had the opportunity yet to use this set-up on a hog, but hopefully it will change this year.

Thanks again for the replys.

Tell your friend to borrow a muzzleloader or a .22 magnum.

According to the way i read GA hunting regs, .22 rimfire rifles are legal to use in small game season; that includes the .22 magnum. The state of OK has the same hunting rules in WMAs during small game season; small shot or rimfire rifles. Ft. Sill has the same rules during small game season. i've killed several dozen hogs with a .22 magnum and it works very well if you limit your shots to 50 yards or so. A couple of those hogs weighed over 300 pounds on the hoof.

Wait until the hog is broadside and put the bullet in it's ear. Don't shoot a hog behind the ear because there a good chance the bullet will miss the brain. i sometimes shoot smaller hogs low just behind the crook in the leg, this takes their heart out. Hogs are not built like deer.

The idea of shooting hogs with small shot never gets old.
