I own one of the Sako rifle chambered for Lazzeroni's .308 round (Warbird) and I think it is probably one the best long range hunting rifles on the market. But with the factory ammo costing $100.00 a box it damn well better be.

As far as the ballistics Lazzeroni provides being exagerated, I don't know because I personally have never clocked the rounds, but his bullet drop numbers seem to be right on. I am comfortable taking shots at 500+ yards with this rifle that I would never take with any of my other rifles. Not only does the round get out to those distances in a hurry, it has enough energy to still have tremendous killing power.

That being said, I would never recommend the any of Lazzeroni's rounds as all purpose rounds, they are just too damn expensive. I only use mine when I know I will be shooting at long ranges.

Hope this helps.

basically, i am looking for something different. i dont handload and didnt realized that lazzaroni ammo was so expensive. i started out looking for 264 win mag and after exhausting that search turned to the lazzaroni. i have the two originals, 30/30 and 30-06, just looking for something different for whitetails. what do you think if the 7mm-08 or the 260 rem.? i love the trajectory and ballistics of the 264 win mag, anything else out there that comes close? i am looking for something in the .25-.30 caliber range for whitetails and similar game. and no custom jobs, looking for a rifle around $500-700.

Lazzaroni, in my humble opinion is overpriced, overrated and unnecessary.

Dang Ridge Runner, I didn't know you had something against Lazzeroni. I'm sure all those calibers you mentioned do a great job at 500 yds, but I've never heard of some of them and don't own any of them. The man asked if anybody had any experience shooting a Lazzeroni Warbird, I own one and shoot one so I gave my opinion.

Like I said, I wouldn't recommend the round as an all purpose whitetail gun. And yes, it is overpriced and unnecessary. But hey, don't we all own some toys that are a little too expensive and not completely necessary.

what do you think if the 7mm-08 or the 260 rem.? You would more than likely like either cal.I have the 7-08 in a Rem classic and the 260 in the Ruger MK11.The ruger is my favorite because it is light to carry and it puts e'm down, and is accurate.Shot one this year at 110 in the throat with the 260,with a 140 gr corloc.Have taken deer with the 100 gr,partion,125 gr nosiler, and 140 gr noslerand 140 gr coreloc.
Just got the 7-08 close to hunting season but took a buck using a hornady sst 139gr went through both front shoulders at about 40 yds.

The 7mm ultramag or 7mmstw are about as flat shooting as you an get without paying extremely high prices for factory ammo. Both are available in remingtons 700 and the stw in many others as well.

LAZZERONI RIFLES AND AMMO ARE IMPRESSIVE BUT OUT OF MY LEAGUE. IF YOU WANT VELOCITY AND A FLAT SHOOTER GET AN ULTRAMAG.
