Low rings for a Rem 760...

Gun is a 760 30-06 with a Leupold VX II 1-4x20 scope. The gun was bought used and came with rings that are too high for me.My question is what do you do when you swap out rings? I have sighted in a number of guns that had new scopes mounted on them without any problem. However when it comes to putting the scope in the rings...aligning the cross hairs etc...I'm a novice. My last question could be a stupid one. The scope currently has already been sighted in. Do I need to reset the windage & elevation adjustments? Or is it as simple as mounting the scope & rings onto the base, align the crosshairs as best possible...snugging up the screws & sighting in? Any feedback or recommendations would be appreciated.

Current setup with High Rings....

New rings…Leupold Standard Low rings # 49898

Current base already mounted Leupold #49992

Thanks,

Eric

Any time you remove the scope you need to boresight and rezero.

I've had 2 scopes boresighted and both seemed to be further off when I went to sight them in than the guns that I've just put the scopes on. I quit having that done although it may very well have been the people doing it. It's not needed though. Just put the scope on see how it shoots and adjust it until it's shooting how you want it to.
