best rifle for around $500

I am looking into getting a new rifle in .270 or 7mm and was trying to decide who makes the most accurate rifle for around $500. I was kind of leaning toward a Weatherby Vanguard but I have read some good things about Savages also. If you had the money to spend what rifle would you recommend to a friend?

thanks

For $500 you probably can't go wrong with a Savage, but I would also look at CZ. I think they are in that price range also if you are talking only Rifle and no scope. I haven't priced rifles in a while but I know Brownings are out of your price range, and I believe Remingtons are too, but I could be wrong. I dont own a CZ but have heard good things.

I would look at the Tikka T3.

Tikka, Savage, Weatherby, are all good repitable rifles in your range.

If you haven't thought about a scope and need to save a little more dough for one look at Mossberg ATR, Stevens 200, and the Marlin XL7. These are all decent rifles in the $300 range and will leave you with cash for a scope.

Please don't get a scope rifle package or a scope in a bubble pack at Walmart.

thanks for the suggestions. When I wa talking about the price I am not factoring in the scope. The $500 is for the gun alone. I am even thinking about saving a couple hundred more because I was looking at the Weatherby Sub-MOA. Iam jsut trying to get a good starting point.

Lots of quality rifles in that price range. Just go to the store and shoulder them all and see which one fits YOU best.

Tikka T3 may run you a shade over 500 that would be my vote but the savage package rifles are a very decent shooting gun and cant be beaten for the price.
