RE: Nightforce scopes
My friend has one of these mounted on a tactical 308

and one of these on a 6.5-284

He also had a 2.5-10 straight tube nightforce that I was not impressed with. He has since sold that

They are a very robust design . The top one 5.5-22 has very nice optics and a great lit reticle.
The target model has great optics as well. I helped him mount them on his rifles and get them sighted in on his backyard range . He had aLeupold mounted on the tactical 308 prior to the NF. They are expensive

Does anyone have experience with them? What comments do you have? Are they a quality piece? Thanks....

RE: Nightforce scopes
I have shot box tests with well over 100 different scopes. I have only had two scopes do the box test perfectly. One was a Swarovski, and one was a Night Force. I do have one S&B, but I have not done a box test with this scope, however I believe it would perform flawlessly. I have done box tests with a few Zeiss scopes also. The Swaro. and NF both out performed the Zeiss scopes.
If your budget is for a Mark Leupold, then do not look through or test a NF. You will be disappointed in the Leupold. But then of course you are paying top dollar for the NF. A NF is my next purchase for a 338 Lapua improved that I am going to start building after Christmas. It will take me a while to save up for it, but I want to put an ultimate big game rig together. And a NF is part of the equation.
I saw a picture where a sniper rifle in Afghanistan was shot through the erector system with an AK47. The tracking knobs stillk worked, and allowed a marine to make a long distance shot. The scope was a NF. Tom.

RE: Nightforce scopes
Yeah they are pricey allright..My friend bought the first 2 5.5-22 and 2.5-10 for way under what most people buy them for . The last one he bought from Midway since the other guy had a problem getting that particular model and would involve a wait.
