I have never tried on my centerfire rifles but definitely used it on my muzzleloaders. Works great with all the fowling on the black powder. I just may have to try it now.

So, if a major league custom barrel maker says "no damage" and the makers of the product warn you to leave it in no longer than 5, 10, or 15 minutes at a time before swabbing out and repeating
Certainly the ammonia in a bottle of Butche's or Barnes Cr-10 is far greater than the whole gallon of Windex - I would still follow the manu's directions - I believe you might remove material in stages rather removing some and not getting others... Gotta admit i leave the potent stuff in about a 1/2 hour and repeat the process as needed.

One other factor - quality of metal used in a barrel... some are the best some are not so best...

Your quote from Mr. lilja makes it sound as if he doesn't see any problem at all, but I understand your point about the quality of the barrel.... the lilja barrels are known to be top notch. Still, it seems to me that the maker's of the product are being overly cautious if the maker of a fine barrel is confident leaving the stuff in contact with his expensive barrels overnoght or longer.
What it meas to me is that I'll not worry about the ammonia based copper removers staying in my barrel past the 5 minutes that some of the labels warn about.
I am definitley going to give the Windex a spin in my muzzleloader though!

Totally agree... in fact I just finished to ML with 3 1/2 treatments of Barnes CR-10

Thought I might post this for making windex patches....

Thanks for the photos and tip!
Now I'm just trying to figure out what containers to use for the patches. Great post.
