Go ahead, brag on your Savage.......

RE: Go ahead, brag on your Savage.......
Well RL - I'll call your bluff. Here is my target shot with a truly "Out of the Box" Savage 11FYCAK (Youth model) 7-08. Two consecutive 5 shot groups measuring 0.41" and 0.29". And this rifle did not have a after market bedding job or trigger job either. Load was 38 gr of IMR 4895 and W-W 150 gr SP. And notice they are 5 shot groups, not 3 shots.
I also have a .223 that will do just as well and a 30-06 that comes close.
I am happy you got a load that shoots well out of your rifle. I just hope it is consistant. So your 3 shot group is 8 hundreths of an inch smaller than my 5 shot group. Wow, I'm impressed. But the again, I also have a few hundred $$ left in my pocket.

Not bluffing anyone, sorry you took it that way, almost.
It is what it is, no more, no less......
What's your barrel length and velocity on that 7mm, if only for conversation.........

RL - That is a 22" bbl. I don't have a chrony and interpolating from the book, MV is around 2500 - 2550.
FYI - Here is a 5 shot group from my .223 - Unfortunately I had a flyer that almost doubled the group size (was well under .5"). Again, its an 'out of the box' Savage.
BTW - What chambering are you shooting??

OK just one more "out-of-the-box" Savage. This pic is 2 - 3 shot groups from My Savage 116FLSS, 30-06 using 180 Nosler Accubonds at a MV around 2700 fps.
Upper left groups measures .502", center group .877"
And tonight for supper I am having elk steak from the bull I shot last year - one shot from 297 yds with this rifle.
Mmmmmmm, Mmmmmmmm, good
I could go on and on about my Savage 17HMR and 22, but I think I made my point. Savage rifles arepretty damn goodin my book.

well there you have it. I don't recall Remington ever manufacturing a 243AI in standard production. So you must havea custom built rifle on a Remington action (would be my choiice for an action too) vs an Out of the Box Savage.
Hey, you have a good shooting rifle there no doubt. But I believe you invested quite a bit more $ for what - less than .100" accuracy. Seems like myinvestment is getting substantiallysmallerthan your's for a very minimal return.
And as I recall someone else saying - "nuff said"

I have an idea, instead of comparing custom rifles based on a manufacturer's action, let's do a consumer-level test. Put the Stevens bolt-action (cheapest Savage makes) and put it up against what ever Remington is selling cheapest right now and take them both to the range and shoot factory ammo out of them and see which one does better. This whole argument has been about who is the superior manufacturer, am I correct? A chain is only as strong as it's cheapest link. Who do you guys think would win that one?
I know there are some guys who shoot the Stevens on here, and someone is bound to be shooting Remington's cheapest as well. What is it now, the 710 or 715? I know they bought out Charles Daly's interest in a rifle manufacturer in Turkey that produces the Mauser version they are selling now. Maybe that's the cheapest Remington puts their name on?
