Ever had a new gun just.....not "fit"???

I'm kinda' sick about this....

I spend A LOT of time researching and handling all kinds of different rifles before I finally ordered a Remington 700 XCR and a Zeiss Conquest 3.5X10X44mm. scope.

Finally got the scope mounted like I wanted it and took it out to sight it in today.
I've got a Ruger M77 and a old Remington BDL that shoulder like a fine shotgun for me. I can quickly shoulder them even with my eyes closed and then open my eyes and I'm looking right through the scope.

This new Remington is.....awquard.I cant seem to shoulder it quickly, and even when I get it right I'm finding myself bobbing my head around to get a clear view through the scope.

Am I just not used to the gun yet or do some rifles just not "fit" a particual person?

If I can't get used to my new gun pretty quickly I'm going to have to put it up for sale. I'm seriously sick about this. I spent a ton of time and a wad of money on this setup and it just doesn't seem to work well for me.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm lost here... You did, or did not handlean XCRbefore ordering one???

If you "did", you should have known what you were getting. If you "didn't", then you should have checked one out before ordering one...

Would it help to change the height of the rings???

I handled the RIGHT HANDED XCR's quite a bit. Since I'm a lefty, I didn't have a chance to handle one with the bolt on the other side though. In fact, I think that my left handed XCR was the first one to come into our local Gander Mountain.

As far as scope ring height, I've always mounted the scope as low as possible. With the bolt throw on the XCR and the 44mm bell on my Zeiss, I can use medium height rings and get adequate clearance.

I have never purchased a gun that I did not feel comfortable handling, of all my guns there are only a few I purchased new.
I would love to have a Ruger O/U shotgun but they just don't fit me.
You can always buy an aftermarket stock for your gun

I don't know if it would help you or not, but i'm sure if i looked i could find an old L.H. BDL Long action stock around here i'd part with. You could get your action bedded into it, and make a shooter out of it that way...
