Savage
What do you think about them?? I found a .270 thumbhole stock that I liked but I know absolutely nothing about them. I highly doubt that they are "top of the line", but then again, i know didly about guns. It was listed at Dicks Sporting Goods for I think $550-$600 but I thought that was too much. Is it?

RE: Savage
Cupcake, get the savage. I bought one sometime ago (savage 300 win mag with the accu trigger) and I love the gun. It's a tack driver that has proven to be very reliable.

RE: Savage
Cupcake - Get the Remington 700. I've owned both and the Remington 700 is the way to go. Take a look at the poll on the top of the guns forum. The majority of folks prefer remington to savage.

RE: Savage
That's not a bad price on the savage. The stainless ones around here go for around $560, and the nicer they get the more expensive they get. Or you could get a Stevens, which is basically a Savage 110 for around $300.
I have owned several savages and never had a problem with any of them, and they keep getting better as far as quality and fit and finish goes. And they have a good reputation of being pretty accurate right out of the box. Nothing wrong with a 700 either if that is what you want. I would also look at the Howa guns while your at it. Paul |

RE: Savage
cupcake; Just my opinion, but if you want to buy a shooter get the Savage, if you want to build a shooter get a Remington.
