Ruger LCP

Maybe this is old news for you guys, but I finally got a close look at a Ruger LCP the other day at Gander Mtn. I've been very interested in these and they don't stay in the stores long enough to look at. Any way, even though I've looked at the KT P3AT before when I held the LCP I noticed 2 things.

1. I had assumed that this gun is striker fired but it actually has a hammer that is concealed with in the slide. Duh, don't know how I missed this, probably because I hadn't dryfired one.

2. I also notice that when I dry fired the gun that I had to actually twist my hand to be able to pull the trigger all the way back. The take up on the trigger is so much and the grip so small that I couldn't physically pull it back all the way with out moving my hand and/or finger position on the trigger.

I had high hopes for this one becoming part of the family (it has it all - size, concealability, reliability, cost) but I don't see how I could shoot it accurately.

Oh well,

I own this gun, so I will give you my 2 cents. Firstly, this gun is not a "range" gun. For me, it's intended purpose isa pocket gun that you walk the dog with. Secondly,I pray I never get in a fire fight with it, but up to ten yards I could pull off a few rounds. I tried shooting it from 25 yards and it just wasn't happening for me. However, I think it's better than a knife. ;)

I agree 100%. With the way it fit my hand I was even worried about pulling of the 10' shot.

How does it carry in the pocket? Do you carry it cocked with one in the chamber? I didn't see a decocker on it so I'm assuming that it's a single action.

I carry it with one in the chamber, because the trigger pull is close to ten pounds. Yeah, there's not a decocker on it. I work in an office environment and it makes it easier than lugging my glock 30 around.

As far as size goes, it's relatively the same size as my cell phone (blackjack2) I honestly forget I am carrying it. Plus, if someone ever mugs me I will go into my pocket to give them the keys to my car, if you know what I mean.;)
