Slug question
I have an 1100 20ga. with a smoothbore barrell on it. I bought some rifle slugs for deer hunting, but then got to wondering if I have to have a special slug barrell before I can use them or will the standard barrell work for them?
If these work, what kind of recoil can I expect from them compared to shooting other shotgun shells?
Thanks!

RE: Slug question
i've shot slugs out of both a regular barrel and a slug barrel and spending the extra money for a slug barrel is not a bad idea because the accuracy compared to a standard barrel is just unbelievable. i already have an 870 wingmaster with a standard barrel and today i just bought another 870 wingmaster with a slug barrel just for that purpose

RE: Slug question
Yes you have the correct slugs. Rifled slugs are designed for smooth bore barrels, and sabot slugs are designed for rifled barrels. Recoil from 20ga slugs shot out ofa gas operated shotgun is not bad at all.

RE: Slug question
It would work.......as long as the choke wasn't too tight. I wouldn't shoot slugs through a full choke. Improved Cylinder is recommeded I believe for smooth bore. Then you have the issue of sights. A "field barrel" will only have bead sights. Again, it would work if you put in the time and practiced. I'd check into a slug barrel......anything with rifle sights or a cantilever scope mounting barrel.
