I just bought one and i got a new monarch which is also silver. Is it possible to match up all the silver or should i just go black? If so what brands, models, etc.

I just got a Remington 700 XCR and I am going to use Leupold SDT silver bases and black matte scope & rings. Having problems with the front base forward screw being too long though.

Do you have the screws in the right holes? The screws are normally different lengths.

Yes, I tried all screws in different holes. Yesterday afternoon, I went to see my local gunsmith who told me the same thing everyone else on this forum said about how I must have the wrong screws in the wrong holes. I took him the gun, bases and screws and he said I was right, the hole on the forward base was not drilled deep enough and he had never seen that before on a remington rifle. He gave me a shorter screw that worked perfectly. Problem solved.

With the stainless barrel and silver scope, I went with black bases and rings. I like the two tone look, However, the stock is black so I'm not sure it would look as good on a wood stock.
