Underwood M1 Carbine

I have an oppertunity to trade for this M1 carbine. It was bought from CMP,and arsenal inspected and /or repaired. Seller says it is in good condition,Underwood receiver/barrel stamped 1/43 with bomb marking.
Comes with 1 mag.

I have offered in trade a SigSauer P229R .40cal. that I don't hardly ever use as it does not fit my hand correctly.

Is this a fair trade? Would you shoot it or would it be a safe queen?
What would you do?

Thanks.

RE: Underwood M1 Carbine

I have seen some pretty ragged stuff in so called "good condition." You have to ask yourself how bad you need an M1 carbine. They are handy but fall short of typical hunting rifles. We used Underwood M1 Carbines when I was in corrections. By the way, the M1 carbine will fire when the bolt is not fully locked down. You want to make sure that the action works and locks freely before you buy it, and I would keep it cleaned and lightly lubed in use.

For show, I would get it. For hunting, it would be the last gun I would have. They only have an effective range of 100 yards, and its a pistol caliber.
