Anyone here ever shoot a 460 weatherby
 

Hey, has anyone on here ever shot one of these. I got to try one out last weekend. The recoil on that thing was ridiculous. My uncle had his out and let me try it out. I was all cocky and said it couldn' t be that bad. I guess I was wrong. The first shot almost yanked the gun right out of my hands. The second time I had better control but it hurt even more. 2 shots was all for me. My right shoulder is still purple. Picture a 150# small framed guy shooting one of those, how embarresing. [:@]

I have never shot one and probably never will. Hopefully though! I got into a conversation with a man in the sporting goods store this afternoon that was buying a Svarovski scope and ammo for his 470 nitro express for a cape buffalo and elephant hunt. Those things really got to hurt BAD!

I' ve never shot one, myself. However, there was a guy at one of our local Seattle ranges that was shooting one once. We have metal roofs at our ranges (all that rain), and the concussion from that thing was so great that the rangemaster asked him to put it away. No one would go up to the line while he was shooting it.

I' v even seen the same thing happen with muzzlebrakes.

Using a .460 Wby is like swatting flies by firing the 16" guns from the USS Wisconsin.....just a trifle overkill. The .470 Nitro Express is a wimp in comparison. Apparantly macho sells!!!

I shot one twice! I weigh in at around 220, and I didn`t like it much either.:D

I let a guy use a Weaver X 1.5 (1977) to take to Africa on a .460 as he could not get what he needed before he left. The gun smith bore sighted it and we went to a local rock quarry to sight it in. and I learned a lot about being Macho. It ain' t all it' s cracked up to be. The scope made it back in one piece, and I still have it.

One of the electricians at the plant I work has one. He' s the type that shoots one shot and then moves the sights (rifle has open sights, no scope). He' s keeping them within a 6" circle at 100 yards, so far he' s been thru 3 boxes of factory ammo chasing his tail ;). I shot it twice, kept em within 2" , enough for me!
