shooting a 12ga when hunting with a ml
 

i plan to hunt gun season and ml season with the triumph i will buy
i would like to get some range time in early but it will be the 1st week of spet before i buy the triumph would i thelp me shooting my mossberg 500 with slugs or even bird shot for when i ml hunt.
i know i need to shot the ml alot i will but would it help me get ready useing the 12ga 500 with iron sights. or is it just a waste of slugs.

Shoot the slug gun a little. The reason I say this is because I do the same but for a different reason. I travel about 250 miles from home to deer hunt. I intend to hunt with my muzzleloader but always take one of my slug guns for a extra firearm incase I have problems with my muzzleloader or it's raining. But to answer your question I don't think you would benefit much shooting a slug gun to "practice up" for shooting your muzzleloader. They are two differnet beasts. You would be better off shooting a .22 rifle and then go to your muzzleloader. Just my opinion.

Yeah if you have a .22 i would recommend that instead, much cheaper ammo and it wont beat you up like that slug gun. In fact when i used to hunt a shotgun only zone i would dread sighting in my shotgun because those 3 inch mag deer slugs kicked so bad.

well guys i remeberd a friend said he had a semi 22 i could use for tree rats. I think i will ask him if he minds if i shoot targets with it some. or i might just break down and buy one next month if it is in the budget. i plan to drop 1000 next month so whats another 100 bucks
