lightweight handgun for defense for a older guy

i got a friend of mine that is about 75 or so.
He said he wants to get a handgun for defense either a rev. or a semi auto.
He wants something small and lightweight so it is easy to carry concealed.
He said he was going to go with a 22,but i told him i would not go with a 22 for defense.
I was thinking a 380 a 357/38 snupnose maybe a small 9mm or just a plan 38.
What would you recommend.
He does nto want to spend alot of money on the gun.

A Taurus Model 85 in 38 special pretty much covers those bases.

A friend of mine swears by the Bersa Thunder in 380.Depending on the gentleman's knowledge of using guns a revolver might be a better choice.I'm reading mixed reports about the new Ruger LCP.

I personallyhad a bad experience with a Taurus snubbie.I can't or won'trecommend one of those. To each their own of course.I hope the old fellar finds one that fits his needs. He might consider looking for a used Smith "J" frame.

With that being said what ever feels good to him.If he can try different guns that would help him decide what he wants.

Ruger's new LCP in .380 would be another possibility.
