Winchester mod 70 question

A local shop has a Winchester Mod 70 that is NIB. I'm trying to surf the net and see if the price is competitive but out of all of the sites I've looked at I've found nothing like this rifle. It has a silver barrel that appears to have something like a parkarized finish and the stock is camo that has a rubbery "non-slip" feel. I really don't know much abut rifles and am looking for one to hunt elk with. This one is chambered in .300 WSM. Does anyone have any info on this gun or where I may look to find approx values?

Well, thats one of those limeted edition ones where they make them in camo kind of liek browning and those mossy oak brush stainless stalkers with the dura touch stock, it would be around $800-$900-$1000-$1100-$1200 id say around those prices, ur better of jsut buying a browning, in 300 WSM, for 700 and mount some nice glass on there and ur set for elk hunting

Sounds like I'd better jump on it. The price tag yesterday was $600. I was leaning on putting a Leupold scope on it. Thanks for the quick reply!

It is a Classic CRF or a push feed model? That would make a pretty big difference in price...

IF it is CRF it is worth the money if it is push feed pass on it.

How would I tell if it's a CRF or a push feed? I did look at it again today. I was mistaken it is a used rifle but so clean it might as well be new. There is no booklet with it. Is there any way to find out exactly what type of Mod 70 it is? I found nothing like it in the current catalogue or Winchesters web site. Thanks for the help!!!

If the gun has a full length claw extractor on the right side of the bolt then it is a CRF , if the bolt looks like the bolt on a Remington 700 then it is PF. If it is used then 550 is a better price or even a tad lower.

As far as $$$ values go, I agree! As for function, a Push Feed works just as well as the "Claw!" If that is the only reason that the Post '64 Winchesters fell out of favor, its a very poor reason! I've never had a problem with either of my Push Feed M-70's!
If you hunt dangerous game, maybe the "Claw" is justified, better yet, maybe a double rifle!
Remmie's never, ever had a "claw" extractor, and no body complains. Maybe the fact that nobody likes "change" is the reason that the pre-64's are considered so much better than the post-64's!

Sounds to me like it's astainless ultimate shadow with dura touch camo.

If this is the rifle you are looking at and it is NIB it is a very good deal and if you are in the market for a rifle this would be an excelent choice.

THAT'S IT!!! I was wrong though. It's not new but used in what I would consider very good condition. I posted also in the Big Game section with questions on the caliber. I did go ahead and buy the rifle on Saturday and they are mounting and bore siteing the Leupold VX II scope I got to go along with it! It should be ready on Monday or Tuesday and I can't wait to see what it will do! I'll post a pic when I get it all set up! Thanks to all for the replies and help.

Oh, one more thing. On the CRF v. Push feed. I looked at the bolt pretty close and it did seem to have a very good claw extractor on the right side of the bolt. Is it safe to assume (i hate that word) that it's a CRF? A pic would really help me out if someone could post one.

Thanks a ton!!

Yes that rifle is a CRF.

Meh, I'd skip the craptacular New Haven rifle and get a CZ if I wanted a CRF rifle, or wait until FN starts producing Mod 70 sporters.
