CZ Bolt Action Rifles
 

I'm looking for rifle chambered in 375 H&H or possibly 416 Rigby. The Ruger M-77 is around $1,300. The Model 70 is the same, as are just about all other American "Safari" Grade rifles.

Then you get to the European guns. The Chech-made CZ Mauser sells for around $600 and is used by hundreds of Europeans on their African hunting safaris. It is control fed and looks good to boot.

Anyone know any reason I shouldn't save a bunch of money and buy one of these over a Ruger or Winchester (Other than the old "buy-American" argument)?

i shot a cz carbine in 7.62x.39 it shot great and had a nice trigger...it was a nice rifle...

I have never shot a CZ but I did look at one. It appears to be well made. It was only a 22LR that I checked but the bolt operated smooth as glass and love that single set trigger.My dealer thinks they are one of the best values out there. One of these days I want to get a .223 bolt action and I think CZ is going to be the one. Ruger Redhawk

GAHUNTER, I have a CZ 527 American (.223) that is a fine rifle. I bought it as a walkaround rifle and have been very pleased with it. Fit and finish are great, and accuracy is acceptable. I've not done a lot of test firing with it to find its favorite load, but it'll do 1.5-2.0" with inexpensive surplus ammo. I'm pretty sure it will go sub-MOA with a bit of work. Only real quirk is that the safety is reversed from most American built guns: forward to safe, rear to fire.

Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with a CZ rifle.

Don’t buy it, if the word gets out how good these rifles are the price will go up. I have a CZ in a 22 magnum; it looks good, fits good and shoots great. I have never been sorry that I have bought it. I’m thinking of buying a CZ 550 in a 300 win Magnum.

I've looked at the CZ rifles awhile back and really want one. The only thing wrong I've seen with some of them, is that the bolt is a little stiff, which I'm sure would smoothen out with some use. Overall, an excellent rifle for the price.

While the CZ is a good rifle, the safari versions have the awful hogback stock design and would probably need a new stock before becoming a fully functional dangerous game rifle. Your price of $1300 for the winchester M70 safari .375 isn't correct, it can usually be had for around $800-850 and would be my choice for a ready to go big bore.

Heard many good things about the CZ rifle line, but have no hands on experience with them. You may want to look at the Charles Daly line of Mauser style rifles, as they offer a .375 H&H in the deluxe model or the safari model, if I am not mistaken. It has the classic european mauser rifle lines.

I have a Brno ZKK 602 in .375 H&H
It has a McMillan stock. I also had a gunsmith smooth the bolt travel and put on a PME M-70 3 way safety. I love this rifle.
