sig P229
anyone have the 229? or expirience with it? my only expirience is with 226s and 220s...shot both of them models hundreds of times...
got a glock 22 in 40 right now...thinking about trading it for a 229 in 9mm or 40...leaning towards 40 and buying a 357sig barrel for it.... its smaller and more carryable, and may serve another purpose which i cannot use the glock for but can possibly use the sig for... just making sure the 229 is a SHOOTER and work horse like the 226....i know its just barely smaller than the 226... |
RE: sig P229
I owned a 229 and it is a great firearm, but I'm a Glock fan

RE: sig P229
I own a SIG 229, 220 and previously owned a 226. The 229 is just as good as the others. I also own several Glocks and they are probably one of the best combat pistols on the market right now.

RE: sig P229
Have shot them a few years ago. No issues with them at all and darn accurate. The manual of arms just isn't to my liking. I prefer HK's as they fit my hand best.

IMHO the Sig P229 is one of, if not the best .40 S&W combat handguns available. I went through the LEO academy with a 229 as my sidearm and was fortunate enough to win the academy's "Top Gun" award. I attribute that, in partto the Sig being so easy to shoot and scary accurate. I no longer carry the P229 as I am now issued a Beretta and have since sold my 229. It was simply sitting in my safe and collecting dust. It was a great open carry weapon but a little tough to conceal except for say Jan. and Feb when it was really cold out. I found that with a lot of practice I was as accurate with a Glock 27, it was much easier to conceal, is much easier to clean, and the finish on the Glock holds up a whole lot better. That would be my only complaint of the Sig....is the finish....it shows wear very quickly. I still have a soft spot for the P229 and may pick one up again if I find a good deal. |
RE: sig P229
I own a 228 but have shot a 229 a few times. I like Glocks but will never part with my 228. If I were to buy a non-Glock semi auto handgun, the 229 would be at the top of my list.
