good as any better than most, I keep looking for something better, ain't found it yet but 7mm08, 338 fed, dirty 06, 270 work just as well. Need to try my 6.5 this year but probably will end back up with my old beat up Howa

Not too often......

My grandpa used a 308 almost his entire hunting career, now my dad uses grandpa's rifle, and I've used it to kill a few. It definately gets the job done!

I like the 308 Win. The 308 is a relativly mild recoil round. The short action allows the rifles to be a tad lighter and more compact than long action rounds. Bullets in the150-165 gr. do very well out of the 308 cartridge, with ballistics about like the longer 30.06 Spr. cartridge. In part, for all of these reasons , the 308 Win.has been my round of choice for white tails since 1962.

Back in the days before PC ran amuck. My HS economics teacher Charlie Jeffers once proclaimed that "the 308 was the greatest deer cartridge ever invented." He was an avid PA hunter and a great person not to mention Teacher.

my father shoots a winchester model 100 and grandfather has 2 308's both lever action. One a savage and the other a wincherster. they both have killed a pile of deer with them along with the occasional moose.....nothing wrong with the 308 that is for sure....
