I have a Model 110 with a ser #500xx Anyone know when it was built?

Call Savage and they will tell you everything you want to know about your gun bythe serial #. I called them about a Savage I own and they told me everything about my gun.

The prefix letters (ABC etc) started in 1968 so no pre-letter pre jan. 1968 with a 50000 SN my best guess is 1961-62 no.1 was as I recall about April 1958 . I have a 70000 SNthat is a 1965.

When I was refered to the historian I decided I didn't really wanna know .

I had another guy tell me it was between two that he owned and that it was a 64. Something todo withanother stamp on the barrel end of the reciever. A circle with a two digit number with a letter. Mine is 26R. Apparently he has been keeping records. Thanks for replying.

i collect Savages. It all started with my model 67 slug gun and it's unbeleivable accuracy. My first rifle was a 110 in 30 06 which I've since converted to 35 whelen. I purchased a second in 30 06 for my son used for 200.00 since he didn't like the recoil of the whelen. Both of these 110's will shoot 1" groups all day long. I've since noticed that some older models for sale have a hinged floor plate and a buldge where the dovetail is cut for the rear sight. Stocks are walnut with hand cut checkering. The fit and finish on these guns looks great. I want one from 1958 when they were introduced and was wondering if anybody knew the highest serial # that I should be looking for? I also noticed that some of these older models sport a 99 style check whereas others have a monte carlo. Were the m.c. later production or better model. Where can I get this info? Thanks
