Adjusting Trigger Pull, need help

just got a new remington 700 youth 243 and it shot great. however, the trigger from the factory is way to heavy for my liking. I have a browning that is set a 2.5 lbs and that is what I am used to, and love it. This is prob 5 lbs or so. I opened the manual from rem and it said in red letters, don't adjust, only a rem authorized dealer. My Browning was a simple do it yourself project. Before i attempt to adjust the Rem trigger, i thought i would check for you. Would appreciate any tips on getting this issue resolved. If i need to take it in, i will but would rather do it myself so i can tinker with it and have a trigger i like. thanks.

As you are a Ute please have your parents around if you do anything to change the gun. Be very careful and make sure you thoroughly test the trigger and it won't slam fire or go off if dropped. Hope it helps.

great, thank you for the tips. fyi, the gun will eventually be for my kid, but for now, me. she isn't old enough at 7 but has been practicing with a bb gun and my 10/22, so in time, she will develop the necessary skills.

The Remington Model 7-700 triggers are easy to adjust, but you have to know what you are doing, or you can end up with an extremely dangerous condition-one in which the rifle can fire when you merely slam the bolt shut, or push the safety off. Indeed. there are many "gunsmiths" who have not mastered the technique of adjusting these triggers!!!

Follow these instructions. If you decide to have a gunsmith do it, make sure he/she knows how!!

Yup, make sure you test slam the bolt many many times before you're done. An AD could really ruin your day in a hurry!
