Anyone have any experience with this round(.240)? at the range? in the field? accuracy? devastation?

Kinda thinking the .257wby is "too much" of a good thing....I know guys love it though, the .240 while still red hot....seems more appropriate, though in marketing I suppose bigger is better? though in the real world....?

Also how popular is the 6mm-284? growing?
I have no experience with the .240 WM, but built myself a 6/284 on a Mauser action in 1964. It has a medium-heavy Douglas Premium grade 26" barrel,a Canjar single-set trigger, and a Leupold fixed 7X scope. I still have the rifle, and have used it quite a lot. I consider it better than the .240 WM due to having a shorter, fatter case with no belt.

This rifle is the most accurate one I own, and will virtually put 5 shots thru the same hole at 100 yards using either the 85 or 100-grain Sierra bullets and H4831. The 85-grainer can be loaded to over 3500 FPS with no strain at all, and the 100 grainer gets over 3300 FPS (26" barrel).

240 wbygreat round but so is the 257 wbyI have themin a weatherby mark v. if you are going to use it forvarmint hunting you can not beat the 240 wby I just wishWeatherby loaded it in a 26" barrel.

At the range my Mark V in 240 wby average's .54" at 100 yards 3 shot group. I wish I and some pics to show.

"If" the brass could be bought from some other maker, (read better quality) and "if"you didn't have to pay double because it says WBY on it, then MAYBE i'd agree with you... But for my money, there's several better 6mm rounds out there just because of the brass alone...

BTW, my Remington 700 chambered in 240 Wby. has a 26" bbl...
