I have a 38 off duty that I bought new. After about of box of shells I had some timing problems with the cylinder. I took it to bass pro shop and they sent it to charter arms. It took several weeks to get it back, but no charge and I've had no other problems. I like the way the gun feels, shoots, looks, and how easy it is to conceal.

The company has switched ownership several times since it started. Depending upon the age, they run from decent quality down to down right junk. I've owned examples covering the full range.

I've had one of the 38 Undercovers for many years, it's not a bad little gun. I used to shoot it often and used it as a carry gun for quite awhile.I haven't taken it out in ages.It does alright, but I wouldn't shoot it with any hot stuff. If you plan on shooting it allot I would look for a better gun that will hold up.For what I originally bought it for worked out well for me. I doubt I would ever buy another one.

The charter arms revolverswere designedmore for carrying than shooting. If you have a good 1,don't shoot it much and ESPECIALLY not +P.

Lots of guys I worked with used it as a backup or undercover gun. I never heard anyone complain about them, but I'm not sure how much actual use those guns got.

I've owned two of them, and they work great. I got them for the wife to use at home when I am working nights and in the car for self defense. I have never experienced one problem with either gun, and the wife likes it. Win / win... I bought both of them since 1999. They are both the .38 undercover's.
