Sako 85 Finnlight
 

Does anyone have one. been thinking about getting one but dont know if the $1600 is worth it. whta your experiences with them.

Do not have one. I have handled a nice wood stocked 85. Great trigger. I liked it fine, but really preferred my 75 over the new 85. Also, I thought the price was too high. If it was more like 1100-1200 that's all I would have given.

Well I have mixed feelings on the pricing, they need to ship these with a better synthetic stock not that the factory stock is bad but the stock should be hand laid up fiberglass. First of all 1600 is high for one. I saw one in the 1350+ range in 300 wsm . One dealer Iknow has an 85 SS in 270 for 1099 on closeout. As far as the rifle mechanically it is as solid a rifle as is sold these days.

I’m like a broken record and much prefer the 75 although the 85 models are a little lighter...:eek:

Recently purchased Sako 85 Finnlight in a 300WSM. Topped the rifle with Sako rings & mounts & a 6500 Bushnell with Fusion 165 grain bullets. After 10 rounds, was able to shoot a 5-shot 1/2 inch group. I find the trigger excellent but need to be aware of recoil. Very pleased with the performance so far and look forward to hunting fall 09.

I've been hunting for 40 +years and have owned and hunted with many rifles, and this Sako tops the list.

The synthetic stocks on the 85s are really low grade compared to the stock on the 75s.

Take a look at the new A7 Sako.




Well worth the money.

I don't have an 85 but, I do have a 75 Finnlight. Well it's kind of a Finlight still as I had it re-barreled as soon as I got it so the short fluted barrel is gone. I paid $950.00 out the door for a new one.

The stocks are injected modled. The have a good fit but, like oldelkhunter stated they should be hand laid in this price range. The 75 stock is way better than the 85 in that it has a nice palm swell where the 85 does not. The 85 synthetic has a straight comb and that check peice that has thin slots cut in the side so that it can flex some. I filled my 75's stock (in the back) with expanding foam it eliminate that hollow sound. Not sure I'd do that on the 85 with those slots.

I like the magazine on the 85, making it harder to come out by accident. They are well made guns with nice triggers and a shorter bolt lift. Their actions are smoother than most and have a nice feel to them.

The dealer that I bought my 75 from still has a few left in several models and calibers.

Where did you get your rings and bases?
I am having a terrible time finding them for my 85
