I am partial to the 30-06. Just use lighter bullets for smaller game, and larger bullets for bigger game. Good luck.

The 308 should be able to handle the job but if he wants something that carries a little farther and packs a little more punch go withthe7mm Rem Mag.

Since he has a 308 I would go with something other than the 30 cal round. Either go smaller (for lopes/deer sized game) say 243? or go bigger like a 338..

7mm Rem Mag in 160 grains knocks em' deader than dead.
