RE: Check this shotgun !
Looks cool, but it's a smooth bore .410;). I don't see much purpose in it to be honest. I would rather have one in 9mm or .40 cal. What kind of prices are we talking? You can get a Siaga for a couple of hundred bucks, and a High Point 9mm carbine for a bit under $200 where I live.
And an AR in .410 just seems like an incredible waste to me, it's such a limited shell in such a versatile platform. And what size shells will it shoot? Does it have a choke for using shot? Paul |
RE: Check this shotgun !
Neat idea but with a .410 isn't something suited for that flatform. It's not exactly a super popualr gauge and it's price keep it from being a formidable chocie for this platform. Applaud the idea dn effort but my limited business know-how says no.

You canmake a big hole with a .410 on a 8mm steel plate but you can't even make a mark on it with a 9mm:DAnd its retail price is about 1000-1200 USD ;) |
RE: Check this shotgun !
For a relatively same type of system, I think a Saiga-12 would be a lot more useful and not to mention cheaper.
Its a neat idea, but I don't think your door is going to get beaten down by eager customers. |

RE: Check this shotgun !
I don't know what the saiga's go for now, but I used to have one in 7.62x39 and it cost like $230 from my local gun shop, the shotguns ran about the same price. I haven't looked at them lately, but I doubt they went up hudreds of dollars. Johnson's Sporting goods in Adrian MI.
Um, yeah, I've tried a .410, here is the one I own. It's a Winchester 9410. ![]() I have never seen a 410 slug penetrate any kind of steel. You are talking a fairly light soft lead bullet traveling at 1500-1800 fps. A 9mm will fire a full metal jacket hard bullet from 115 grns to 150 grns at velocities around 1000-1500 fps, and using a carbine adds about 10-15% to that. Not to mention much better bullet choices. And the .40 cal is even better than that. I have put them clean through car doors out of a pistol. Not to mention an AR in 9mm or .40 cal is probably going to much more accurate than a smooth bore .410. There might be better .410 loads, but your not going to find them easily around here. Most of what you will see are going to be 90-100 grn soft lead bullets at around 1600 fps. Make one of those babies in a 20 ga and you might have something, especially with a rifled barrel. I beleive there would actually be a market for that around here. I'll stick with a 12 ga for home defense though. Paul |
RE: Check this shotgun !
I found one for $264 on the net. It's the third rifle down. I'm kind of surprised at the prices for the 12 and 20's though, that's a bit high for what they are.
Saiga .410 Paul |
RE: Check this shotgun !
I just looked it up and you can get the AR platform in 9mm, 40 S&W, 45 ACP, 10mm and 50 AE. Not to mention a myriad of rifle cartridges from .22 rimfire to 50 BMG. At 1,000 dollars or more the .410 would probably be my last choice, considering you can get a really good pump action for 200 or 300 dollars.
Like I said, you make that same gun in a 20 ga with a fully rifled barrel that will fire the modern sabot ammunition accurately and you might have a market for it. There are a lot of states here that are shotgun only for deer hunting and the new 20 ga slugs are pretty impressive ballistics wise. Paul |

RE: Check this shotgun !
Dear Paul L Mohr,
I just checked your message and went donwstairs and had a few shots to 7 mm steel plate from 15 meters.I tried two different brands; one couldn't make a hole but look what the other did :D;) |

RE: Check this shotgun !
All that proves is it will dent metal at close range, says nothing to penetration or bullet quality. My point is that for that kind of money there are much better options on the AR platform than a .410, especially in the U.S. . Maybe you guys have better .410 ammo than we do, but ours is pretty limited, crappy and expensive. It's not a very highly regarded cartridge here.
I just can't see anyone paying that kind of money to shoot a soft lead under powered bullet from a smooth bore gun when there are better options that would be more accurate and cost less to shoot from the same platform. You can argue it all you want but I don't know anyone that is going to make a .410 their go to defense gun, let alone a tactical weapon. Paul |
RE: Check this shotgun !
Hi,
I live in the UK and was looking at one of these in my local RFD's. Does anyone know if aftermarket AR15 handguards and buttstocks will fit. It would lookgreat with a magpul UBR and a daniel defence omega attached. |
