feedback on bushmaster
Hey fellas. I've got around a grand in graduation money, and I'm ahead on my insurance and truck payments, so I've got some money to play around with. I'm highly considering getting a Bushmaster; the A3 Superlight Carbine to be specific. I want to be able to go to the range and just have fun shooting this gun, but I also want it to be good at taking varmints out to 300 yards. Bushmaster says: "A3 Upper Receiver has a 300 – 600 meter rear sight system (with ½ M.o.A. Elevation and Windage adjustments)." I'm not necesserily sure if that means that this gun is accurate out to those distances. Anyone who has input, i'd greatly appreciate it.

RE: feedback on bushmaster
I have owned 2 Bush Masters. They were good rifles. They functioned well, and shot well. But I must say that neither were nearly as accurate as my Rock River rifle. Tom.

RE: feedback on bushmaster
I have a A3 carbine and its accuracy leaves alot to be desired. I shoot around 4MOA. If you want accuracy, go with a non-chrome lined Rock river or bushmaster comp gun.

RE: feedback on bushmaster
My vote is to get a nice bolt rifle however if you're looking into an AR go with a Rock River. My buddy can shoot the lights out with his. Over and over again.

"A3 Upper Receiver has a 300 – 600 meter rear sight system (with ½ M.o.A. Elevation and Windage adjustments)." If you are going to shoot longer ranges, just take the handle off and add a scope riser block and mount a scope. I have a A3 carbine and its accuracy leaves alot to be desired. I shoot around 4MOA |
RE: feedback on bushmaster
I've taken a look at the rock river, but i've heard that DPMS better all around.
|
RE: feedback on bushmaster
I'm not 100% sure but I'm thinking you heard wrong.

RE: feedback on bushmaster
Maybe. I'm just going by what people tell me as of right now. I am completely unfamiliar with AR platform rifles. I'll run down to the gun shop and check 'em out today.

RE: feedback on bushmaster
One other thing. If I had my AR to do over again (I have a Bushy A1) I would have gone with an A10 that shoots .308. Yeah it costs more to plink but you can hunt with it. Not to mention that before this gouging thing you could get .308 mil-surp for dirt cheap. Oh well.

RE: feedback on bushmaster
I recently went to my local Gander Mountain and put a Bushmaster Varminter Special on lay away. I have read good reviews on this rifle, it may cost you a little extra cash but not much more. It comes in a 20" barrel and a 24". I got the 24" with a since I am going to be using it on coyotes and what not. You also have the choice of the regular blued barrel or stainless for the same price so I went with staneless.

ORIGINAL: Briman I rememebr you talking about that one in the past, have you tried any good ammo in it yet? |
RE: feedback on bushmaster
Ah. Sorry to hear that...

RE: feedback on bushmaster
Thinking of sending back to bush. I have looked over everything and can't find anything that sticks out. Part of me is not worried as I bought this gun to put my EOtech on and blast away M193. But then again, you want it work the way it should work. I might get back to looking it over and diagnosing some issues.

RE: feedback on bushmaster
Does it have fatory irons? If so how's te windage adjusment? Bushmaster did have a run of rifles/caqrbines where te barrels were incorrectly installed, from what I've heard, they'll correct the problem if sent back.

RE: feedback on bushmaster
Yea, I got some factory irons. My year warranty is running out. I should contact them soon.

RE: feedback on bushmaster
I've thought of getting a DPMS in .308, but I believe that the .223 would be funner to shoot... cheaper, and easier on the shoulder.

RE: feedback on bushmaster
If it was me I'g go with the Rock River as well. I have a buddy with the Bushmaster Predator, and I can outshoot with my CAR A4 Rock River with any ammo I put in it. He also had to send his back to Bushy, as when he got it, it was a single shot.
In fact, I was out this evening checking crops, and I was busting jackrabbits out to 300 yards with my A4 no problem. :D |

RE: feedback on bushmaster
Rock Rivers are few and far between right now. They are very hard to come by. I had some parts ordered from them to build another upper, and I gave up waiting an cancelled the order. I found the parts from a Rock River dealer online and got 'em in 3 days from him.
Check out this website for some of the best prices you will find on Rock Rivers: www.adcofirearms.com Steve is a pleasure to do business with, and if his items are in stock you will have them in a few days on your doorstep. I've ordered 3 Rock Rivers from him now, and as soon as he gets in what I'm looking for, there will be another one coming from him. |
RE: feedback on bushmaster
Thanks rammer. I appreciate it.

RE: feedback on bushmaster
The recoil on an AR type weapon is non existant. I've fired my .223 off my nose once. It hurt, LOL, but no big deal.
Plinking gets old and is really expensive. If you get one in .308 you can take it hunting. I'd give you a great deal on my AR if your interested. PM me. That way I can get an A10. Tom |
