Remington Reduced Recoil

I gave it a try in my son's 270's on Sat. Although I've only tried it at 50 yds so far, the results are favourable. 5 shot groups right around a one inch group out of a Ruger M77 Sporter. Looking forward to see how they shoot at 100 yds. The young fella had no problem shooting them either.

On a side note. The integeral scope bases that come with the M77's are dang near on zero right out of the box. I didn't bore site the scope when I put it on. After 4 shots we were on zero.

RE: Remington Reduced Recoil

I shot some of it last year on the advice of my doctor(neck injury). It did fine out of the .30-06. This year I'm going back to regular ammo, and even bought a .45-70. I have listened to doctors long enough, and I'm ready to shoot something with some thump. I think I'll get some more of the managed recoil for my son to use when he gets bigger. That way I can get an 06 for him to shoot as a youngster, and he can still use the gun as an adult.

My 9 year old uses the .308 reduced recoil for deer out of his SPS Model 700 Youth. They group the exact same as when I shoot full power 150gr at 100 yards, just like the box says it will.Theydeliver as much energy as my older sons .243, but he'll be able to step up to regular loads once he's 13 or so.

I wish they had managed recoil back in the day for the .270.....at the time it felt like I was shooting a 300mag or worse....now it feels like a cap gun to me, crazy how different things are from being a kid/adult.

I see no reason to punish kids with adult rifle recoil. My young lad said it not hard on him and left no marks on his shoulder even after two boxes fired. Theyare great training aid in my opinion and can only improve their overal marksmanship.

I saw .270 reduced loads, I think with 100gr bullets, so it can still shoot pretty flat etc....just not loaded so hot, ie vs just loading down a 130gr/150gr kinda like that its like a .243, 100gr etc...
