RE: The Perfect Big Game Medicine
300 wsm/WM
325 wsm 338 WM or RUM 375 H&H/Ruger ANy of those will pretty much cover it. |
RE: The Perfect Big Game Medicine
I would go with the .300 Win Mag, or .338 Win Mag

RE: The Perfect Big Game Medicine
Perfect has a lot of "depends" that go along with it. Such as where I will be hunting. Are there any animals that might want to eat me while I am skinning out my animal? Super thick woods or open mountains, etc... etc...
SometimesI think my lever action 444 Marlin is perfect. SometimesI might need and want my .338 RUM Sometimes an ultra light weight rifle in something like a7mm-08 would be perfect. |
RE: The Perfect Big Game Medicine
I am wondering what etc is? Anything up to etc 300 wm/wsm, 300 saum. Depending on etc starting with 338 and up.

Get'em all.

RE: The Perfect Big Game Medicine
I think Teddy Roosevelt had the .405 Winchester as his "big medicine" and used it often on LARGE African game. Good enough for me!

RE: The Perfect Big Game Medicine
Sako 75 in 300 WSM using 168 TSX. Fits like a glove, well balanced, very mild (felt) recoil, more than enough for the mentioned game.

RE: The Perfect Big Game Medicine
The .338 Win, or something that is about the same, such as the 8mm Rem. Mag., other .338's or the .375 H&H, etc.
Or just a plain old .30/'06 with 180 or 200-grain bullets. |
